The thing you probly wouldnt guess is that hunters can also be melee class at, and a very good melee class too.
Beside bow and crossbow skills,hunters also have dagger skills at disposal.Those skills are definetely highest damage and crit dmgers in early phase of game.Only problem is that there are only 5 dagger skills,and last is at 51 if I remember well.Those skills of course become weak in later phase of game compared to 80+ bow/xbow skills,so in order to keep in touch you will have to use bow/xbow sooner or later,while dagger will become useless,which leaves you with a pure range character again.
Still,bow/xbow skills are very strong and keep you far from the battle all the time,which makes hunter 2nd or maybe even first best nuker in the game.You can probly already imagine that its main weakness is defence,so you will try to keep enemies as far as possible from you at all times if you choose hunter.
